FAQ

How can I apply to be a contributor for Youlin, and is it paid?

Youlin hires writers on a rolling basis. If you wish to apply for a position, please send your CV along with two writing samples to this email: youlinassistanteditor@gmail.com. The editorial board will look over your application, samples, and let you know with a decision. If selected, we will reach out, and you will receive further instructions and monetary compensation for your work.

Those whose applications have been rejected may reapply in six months, and will only be seriously considered if the application meets the editorial board’s standards.

    Do you accept Guest Posts?

We do accept one-time submissions, but please keep in mind that we only accept fresh, original pieces. We don't republish pieces from elsewhere, and nor do we repeat topics that we've already covered, so it's a good idea to check the website before writing your piece. The article should be informative, well-researched, and not in the first-person. Our maximum limit for a guest piece is 1000 words. It should be pertinent to our categories, which you can see on the webpage.

The editorial board will deliberate your piece, and let you know if we decide to publish. If it goes forward, you will receive monetary compensation. If you send in a guest piece, and we like your quality of work, we will automatically offer you the position, but you will still have to send in your CV.

    Do you accept Poems/Stories/Blogs/Photographs?

No, we, unfortunately do not accept fictional or personal accounts. We only publish factual, informative pieces with sufficient research. We also do not post photographs or videos without articles attached. But if you would like to supplement your piece with a sound clip or a video, that is permitted.

Why have you not replied to me?

We are a small team, and sometimes due to a sudden influx of pitches and applications, we make take some time to get back to your application. Please be patient, and know that we will reach out to you as soon as possible. If a query, article or application has not been acknowledged after a maximum of two weeks, it will unlikely be answered.
