As a major manufacturing country of the world, China is actively pursuing eco-friendly production in its manufacturing industry, with ideas of green industry and environmental protection that will be applied in the entire industrial chain; from production, consumption, recycling and waste treatment to applications. New impetus has been put into the green industry development for sustainable development.

In the air above the wheat plantation fields in Yinquan District, Fuyan City of Anhui Province, unmanned aerial vehicles are busily working to spread fertilizer. According to a staff of the local plantation service, the air spreading of fertilizers saves not only the chemicals and water, but also reduces the pollution, with better penetration effect and higher efficiency: the aerial vehicles could cover 200 mu (about 14 ha.) of fields every hour, 50 times higher than human labor.

To realize green production, adjustment and control measurements are carried out from the very beginning of the whole industry chain and at every procedure and level. The green production mode will eventually be achieved through coordination, eco-friendly social production, and lifestyle of people as a whole.

At the 19th China International Industry Fair held in Shanghai, “green innovation” was one of the focuses. The “multi-hydrogen hybrid fuel vehicle” presented by Beijing Industry University, offered a new direction of innovation for clean energy, with less fuel consumption and lower emission; the “biological non-toxic plasticizer and derivative continuous green manufacturing” project conducted by Nanjing Industry University, achieved remarkable economic profits in application and pushed forward non-toxic upgrading of China’s plasticizer industry. Nanjing University managed to apply nano composite materials to the treatment of heavy metal wastewater and the technologies of resource recycle, effectively solving the difficulties in energy saving and mission reduction for the application unit, with improved levels of clean production, a great contribution to water safety and heavy-metal pollution prevention in related areas.

Consuming markets are the terminals of all industrial chains, and the green production requests close linkage with the living models of the general consumers. Therefore, people’s lifestyles should be taken into consideration with the advocacy of green production. According to statistics, shared bicycles have helped to reduce 55% of private cars, while doubling the number of bicycles used for daily commuting. As introduced by Zhou Ya, chief expert of Mobike, the famous shared bicycle brand in domestic China, facilitated by its self-charging power management system, the Mobike bicycles have realized zero pollution and emission when people ride them.

In addition to green power generation technology, the Mobike has also established a close-end green industrial chain, covering every procedure of production, usage and recycling, a life-time management resolution for pollution-free and resources regeneration management of large quantities of shared bicycles.

The greener methods adopted in production process plays a vital role in industrial structure adjustment and eco-environment improvement, which are also in line with the strategic requirement for China’s sustainable development and have more and more application and promotion in industrial and agricultural sectors.

Presently, the environment-friendly approaches have been emphasized more and more in the whole production process, from factories to goods available at markets, supply chains and public services; a complete green production system is being established in China.

As the new year begins, let us also start anew. I’m delighted to extend, on behalf of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and in my own name, new year’s greeting and sincere wishes to YOULIN magazine’s staff and readers.

Only in hard times can courage and perseverance be manifested. Only with courage can we live to the fullest. 2020 was an extraordinary year. Confronted by the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Pakistan supported each other and took on the challenge in solidarity. The ironclad China-Pakistan friendship grew stronger as time went by. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects advanced steadily in difficult times, become a standard-bearer project of the Belt and Road Initiative in balancing pandemic prevention and project achievement. The handling capacity of the Gwadar Port has continued to rise and Afghanistan transit trade through the port has officially been launched. The Karakoram Highway Phase II upgrade project is fully open to traffic. The Lahore Orange Line project has been put into operation. The construction of Matiari-Lahore HVDC project was fully completed. A batch of green and clean energy projects, such as the Kohala and Azad Pattan hydropower plants have been substantially promoted. Development agreement for the Rashakai SEZ has been signed. The China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future has become closer and closer.

Reviewing the past and looking to the future, we are confident to write a brilliant new chapter. The year 2021 is the 100th birthday of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. The 100-year journey of CPC surges forward with great momentum and China-Pakistan relationship has flourished in the past 70 years. Standing at a new historic point, China is willing to work together with Pakistan to further implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, connect the CPEC cooperation with the vision of the “Naya Pakistan”, promote the long-term development of the China-Pakistan All-weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with love, dedication and commitment. Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan said, “We are going through fire. The sunshine has yet to come.” Yes, Pakistan’s best days are ahead, China will stand with Pakistan firmly all the way.

YOULIN magazine is dedicated to promoting cultural exchanges between China and Pakistan and is a window for Pakistani friends to learn about China, especially the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is hoped that with the joint efforts of China and Pakistan, YOULIN can listen more to the voices of readers in China and Pakistan, better play its role as a bridge to promote more effectively people-to-people bond.

Last but not least, I would like to wish all the staff and readers of YOULIN a warm and prosper year in 2021.

The People’s Republic of China to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
