The political autobiography of renowned politician and diplomat Syeda Abida Hussain was launched by the Oxford University Press (OUP) at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad on Monday, 12th January. Titled “Power Failure: The Political Odyssey of a Pakistani Woman”, the book discusses the author’s entry into politics and the obstacles faced by her as a female politician in a male-dominated society. Furthermore, it outlines the effects of key political events on the author’s life as well as on the nation as a whole.
The discussion at the launch ceremony was moderated by Senior Advocate Supreme Court Naeem Bokhari and included author Abida Hussain, Managing Director OUP Ameena Saiyid, journalist and senior politician Ayaz Amir, and Editor youlinmagazine.com Dr. Dushka Saiyid. Several politicians, diplomats, media personalities, bureaucrats, academicians and journalists attended the event.
